About Our Gourmet Foods

Freshwater Foods, which produces gourmet foods with the Midwest Great Lakes flavor,
is the only gourmet cannery in Michigan’s Upper Peninsular town of St.
Ignace. In its infancy Freshwater Foods produced Creamy Fudge toppings
with the influence of Mackinac Island Chocolate fudge for its Mackinac Island parent
store’s baked delicacies. Mackinac fudge flavors have influenced Freshwater Foods
flagship product, Mackinac Island Fudge Topping along with other toppings such as
White Chocolate Macadamia Dessert Topping. |
Freshwater Foods maintains the Midwest influence by utilizing as many Midwest products
as possible such as Michigan Sugars and Traverse City Balaton cherries in their Cherry Tomato Seafood Cocktail Sauce, Roasted Cherry
Salsa and Cherry Butter.
The Northwestern and Northern Michigan backwoods influence can be also be found in
such favorites as Pizza with Pizzazz, a spicy pizza sauce and the
Backwoods Barbecue
Sauce.
A blend of Midwestern fruits, Crispin Apples, smooth skin blueberries
and red raspberries inspire fruit spreads and preserves such as Cinnamon Apple and
Cherry Butters, Red Raspberry and Blueberry Preserves. A combination of East coast
Cape Cod recipes and Midwestern products influence Aunt Wendy’s Cranberry Chutney, Mandarin Ginger
Chutney and our new Pineapple Chutney.
